At Dyscover we specialise in helping people who have aphasia. Since we work in groups, and our members often stay involved for long periods it is important that we accept only people who we feel will benefit from our service.
Anyone can phone or email us for more information, or to make a referral. Most of our referrals come from relatives of people with aphasia, or their Speech and Language Therapists.
Before making a referral, please consider the following;
• Are you sure the person has aphasia?
• Are there any significant additional cognitive problems? (such as memory difficulties, which can make inclusion in groups difficult)
• Is the person able to manage independently in the toilet? (our staff are unable to provide personal care, although our facilities are all accessible and we welcome wheelchair users)
