I had my stroke when I was working as a jazz singer in Goa. After two weeks in hospital, my twin sister Sandy chartered a private plane to fly me home. I was admitted to Epsom General Hospital and was very pleased with the care I received there. Later I was transferred to the Wolfson Rehabilitation Centre in Wimbledon and allowed home at the weekends to stay with Sandy. Eventually, I sold my house in London and went to live permanently with Sandy and her husband, John.
By the time I came to Dyscover I was able to walk and had some speech. I have made some good friends and enjoy the many activities and outings with them. I have joined Dyscover’s singing group and during this summer’s performance, a DVD recording was made of my sister and I singing a duet.
