A group of 10 dentists, dental nurses and administrators at Leatherhead based Dental Elements, invited Rosemary to speak about aphasia and how to support patients who might have this language difficulty. None of the staff had heard of aphasia but after the talk recognised that they may have met patients with the condition. Rosemary suggested some practical ways to simplify information leaflets and notices at the surgery, and staff discussed a video which showed how someone with aphasia can be helped to join in conversation.
Presentations like these form be a useful part of staff training sessions.
