“Volunteering at Dyscover has given me a fantastic theoretical and practical understanding of Aphasia and the people it affects prior to applying to train as a Speech and Language Therapist. James – Kingston group volunteer https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/TheDyscoverFive
Eve fits in Volunteering at Dyscover around a busy cabin crew career.
“My work experience at Dyscover has been invaluable in terms of my applications to study Speech and Language Therapy at university. A unique learning curve!.” Eve– Kingston group Volunteer
Having also volunteering with some recent community fundraising Emma-Jane says: “I have been volunteering at the Tuesday morning Kingston conversation group since January. The breadth of subjects we cover means that there are interesting and diverse views and we have some good debates and discussions. I am always impressed by the different and creative ways members are able to express themselves and how supportive everyone is in helping them do so.” Emma-Jane – Group Volunteer
“Volunteering at such a passionate and vibrant charity is inspirational. The difference made to local people’s lives is evident in every way that the charity operates. Volunteers make such a difference at a local community charity such as Dyscover, and the training and support are exceptional. I love the buzz I get when I go over to Dyscover’s centre for Trustee meetings – everyone wants the best for the people we support.” Jan – Trustee
“I joined the Dyscover trustee team this year, after 14 years with the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal , to assist with community fundraising . Am already getting my feet under the table, with a ‘beauty’ event held in Ewell, at which some members and guests were pampered by local beauty therapists, and £600 was raised. A Christmas quiz is planned, and I have my thinking cap on going forward!” Barb – Trustee
