Learning to live with Aphasia – a year on

Posted 11th January 2017

Since Autumn 2015 twenty two people with aphasia have participated in our Learning to Live with Aphasia course. This service is aimed at people who have had no previous support and who are motivated to learn new strategies and set themselves personal goals. Participants learn more about stroke, share their experience of aphasia and develop in skills and confidence. Eight have taken up volunteer roles or paid work and 4 have attended a Conversation Partners’ course with their spouse. The need for ongoing support is clear though – 91% have opted to move on to other Dyscover groups where they can continue to receive our specialist help and encouragement.
